Here is a little background about our community and where we are located. Our little town of Petersburg with a population of 3,500 residents reside here in our community. Petersburg sits on an island called Mitkof Island, surrounded with mountains from the north, south, east and west. There are no tumbleweeds here, it rains quite extensively during the fall, winter and early spring, but when the sun comes out you have a delight in store for your eyes. The beauty is unbelievable and the wildlife is abundant, we have Sitka white tail deer, moose, black bear, brown bear, wolfs, eagles, beaver, mink, whales to name a few. In recent years, we have had an occasional mountain lion show up on Mitkof Island.
